The Bohr Maker-cover art by Bruce Jensen

So…have you read my novel The Bohr Maker? I know that over the past year-and-a-half since the ebook has been available, a fair number of people have bought it. It’s consistently my best selling book, and you all know how much I appreciate that, right? But right now at Amazon, The Bohr Maker has 7 reviews total, and only three of those are from this past year. (Thank you, Eddie!)

I don’t mean to be greedy, but I need more. I need at least twenty reviews before the Amazon algorithms take another look at me. And remember, you don’t need to have bought the book from Amazon to review it at Amazon.

There are a couple of reasons I’m embarking on this promotion now. First, since the advent of KDP Select, it’s gotten a lot harder to make any headway at Amazon for a book that’s not in the program. Second, and more importantly, this fall I’ll have a story coming out in Analog Science Fiction and Fact that is set in the same story world as The Bohr Maker and I’m hoping that story will inspire a few people who’ve never heard of me to check out my past work — and it can’t hurt to have The Bohr Maker well-positioned at Amazon when that time comes.

The Dread HammerI know that writing reviews at Amazon is kind of a pain, but maybe I can make it worth your while. How’s this? If you’ve read The Bohr Maker, please go review it at Amazon, then come back here and let me know in the comments, telling me which review is yours, and whether you prefer the epub (Nook) or mobi (Kindle) format for your ebooks. Then I’ll send you an ebook copy of The Dread Hammer for your personal use. Conversely, if you’ve read The Dread Hammer and you review it at Amazon, I’ll send you an ebook version of The Bohr Maker for your personal use, in your choice of epub or mobi format.

This offer is for a limited time only and please only review the books if you’ve actually read them! And thanks for all your patience and help. This new age of self-promotion is quite a bit different from the old days in the traditional publishing world, but it’s full of promise. Thanks for all your support and help!

Update: June 10
Thanks to Ben Sinclair and Jeffrey for their reviews. That makes nine altogether. If you can review the book and add to the total, I’d really appreciate it.

Update: June 11
And thanks also to Robert and P.F Fathers! That makes eleven reviews.

Update: June 13
Twelve reviews now, thanks to Keith Johnston!

Update: June 16
First new review in a few days, thanks to M. Emken. Thirteen total so far. Thanks to everyone who’s helping out!

Update: June 25
Fourteen reviews, thanks to WillyB who also helped out with reviews of the Puzzle Land books! 🙂

Update: July 3
Thanks to Kirsten Massebeau for review #15! Twenty reviews might be within reach…

Update: August 26
This promotion dropped out of visibility some time back so let’s call it officially over. Thanks to all who helped out. I didn’t get to twenty reviews, but I appreciate the efforts of everyone who helped out.

Hi Linda. I’m Rabbitdreamer. Sorry that my review was not more enthusiastically themed, but I hope you can take them as constructive criticism. I think your books are wonderful, and keep up the good work! I like the epub format, if you want to send me The Dread Hammer. Regards, Robert.

Hi Robert. That is a very thoughtful review, and I enjoyed reading it. I found it especially interesting because one reason I virtually stopped reading SF for a time was because so much of it became so dark and dystopian, even nihilistic. At any rate, I’m glad to know you enjoyed Memory. Among my books, that’s one of my favorites.

Thanks for posting the review! Your copy of The Dread Hammer will be on its way momentarily. Be warned though–this one’s a bit dark and gritty, but darkly humorous too. I hope you like it.

My review is up! Sorry it is so short. Looking forward to reading the Dread Hammer in Kindle format, please.

Do you think you will ever revisit the Nanotech universe? It is such a cool universe.

  4. Linda Says:

Thanks Keith! The review’s great. Much appreciated, and The Dread Hammer will be on its way very soon.

I sometimes toy with the idea of doing another novel in the Nanotech universe. It might happen. But I do have the short story coming out from Analog in the fall, which uses the character of Zeke Choy — the “Chinese doctor” in The Bohr Maker.

    Hello! =)

I wrote a review of the Bohr Maker that posted on June 16th under the same name. Kindle is my chosen format.

I’m bouncy to see what you do with Zeke Choy.

    Thank you!

Hi! Thanks so much for the review. It’s much appreciated and your copy of The Dread Hammer will be on it’s way shortly.

I’ll be posting here of course, when the Zeke Choy story comes out in Analog, but if you’d like to get on my email list, that’s another way to find out: http://hahvi.net/?page_id=553

    Thanks again!
