Limit of Vision in French

Limit of Vision - French cover
I finished a written interview last week with Denis Labbe, a writer for the website lefantastique.net and the magazine Galaxies. He informs me the French translation of Limit of Vision came out in March of this year. I still haven’t seen a copy, but hopefully one will wend its way to me eventually. Denis was kind enough to send the cover image. It’s that same cover again — sigh — but I do like the addition of the gray, graffiti-esque mark up.

If I could read it in French I would . I read it in English twice and enjoyed it both times.

I was really glad to read that you are still writing books, and really intrigued to read your analysis of why science fiction is struggling: young people are into games, not reading! But isn’t this relatively recent? I think gaming has been really big for no more than 6-8 years, or maybe 10 at most.

What’s more, lots of young people that I knew 10 years ago (via relatives with kids) were into both reading and gaming. But maybe this has changed too.

Finally, I really agree with you about online comments: they are mostly dreck, no matter what site they are on (I’m thinking of the extremist anti-environmentalist comments on some of the NY Times DotEarth columns; even that newspaper has its fair share of trolls).

Phil, thank you! LoV came out under such trying circumstances at Tor, that for a long time I had a love/hate relationship with it. But I re-read it not so long ago, and discovered that I’m actually really pleased with it… which is a nice feeling.

Eric, has gaming been big for only ten years or so? Hmm… you may be right. It’s so completely taken over the entertainment time of just about everyone under 25 that I know, it seems utterly dominant.

Came across your blog looking for recent books. I just finished re-reading LoV and recalled that the ending promises a sequel, so I thought I’d see if one has been written. Seems not, yet…

Bohr Maker remains an all time favorite.

    Thank you for your writing.

Thank you Mary! I had been thinking about writing sequels for both Tor books (Limit of Vision and Memory) but things didn’t go well at all with Tor, so it never happened.
