Memory — On Sale — Spread the word!

November 4th, 2013

The sale is done now. Thanks so much to all who participated and who helped to spread the word. If you enjoyed MEMORY and would like to see a sequel please let me know. And do sign up for my newsletter (“New Book Alerts” at the top of the right hand column)–it goes out only a few times a year.

Memory by Linda Nagata“[A] kick ass big idea, hard SF novel…Yes, I’m raving. But I seriously love this book.” —Tobias Buckell

Many of my readers consider Memory to be their favorite among my novels, and I would love to write a sequel, but I’m going to need the support of a lot of readers to do it. This will probably mean doing a Kickstarter to make sure the interest is there. In the meantime, I’d like to persuade more of you to read Memory, so for a limited time I’m offering it for only $3. Thanks for considering it!

The reduced price is available at Amazon US and Amazon UK, so if you’re a regular Amazon customer (and you don’t live in a country where Amazon tacks on extra fees) please purchase there. This will help the novel’s rank and give it more visibility to other customers. The reduced price is also available at my Mythic Island Press webstore, to buyers worldwide.

If you’re a regular customer of Kobo Books, here’s the link to their website

With luck the lower price will also become available at Barnes & Noble, but they tend to be slower about updating their listings, so no guarantees.

For news of upcoming books (and possible Kickstarters!) PLEASE SIGN UP FOR MY VERY OCCASIONAL NEWSLETTER.

And if you read Memory and enjoy it, please consider reviewing it at Amazon or Barnes & Noble, or otherwise spreading the word — because word of mouth is the best way to sell books, and I need all the help I can get! 😉

  1. Jill Engledow Says:

Put your review on Goodreads too, folks. Reviews really help!

  2. Paul (@princejvstin) Says:

Already got my copy this morning, as you know, Linda. 🙂

  3. Linda Says:

Thank you! Much appreciated. I hope you get a chance to read it.

Nineteen copies have sold since I posted the sale, which is not bad, but still a long way from a success story. I’ll let the sale price run for a little while though, and see what happens.

  4. James Kemp Says:

I just bought it on thr UK version of Amazon. I will review it when I have read it.

  5. Linda Says:

Thanks James! I really appreciate it, and naturally, I hope you enjoy the story. 🙂

  6. Keith Johnston Says:

Have you thought about doing a Kickstarter?

  7. Robert Crookall Says:

I just shared it on Facebook. I hope you get enough interest, as I really would love another visit to the world of Memory! For that matter, I’d also love another visit to the LOV universe :-).

  8. Linda Says:

Keith, yes, I’m thinking of doing a Kickstarter to gauge the level of interest in a potential sequel. OTOH, I’d really prefer to have a novel mostly written before I tried a Kickstarter–just in case I had a whole lot of trouble writing it. 🙂

Robert, thanks so much! And thanks for mentioning LoV as well. That book tends to be my forgotten child. I blame the giant spiders on the original cover. 😉

For those interested, 44 copies have sold since I announced the sale. Thanks to all for helping get the word out!

  9. Sarah Kolb-Williams Says:

Saw the offer on Twitter and purchased immediately — you had me at “kick-ass” and “hard SF”! Looking forward to digging in over the holidays 🙂

  10. Linda Says:

Thanks! I keep going between the “Kick-ass” quote and the more mellow “The feel of visionary fantasy mixed with hard SF” from another review, wondering which is more effective. Anyway, Sarah, I hope you find it to your liking!

  11. Linda Says:

Just to continue reporting figures for anyone interested, 54 copies have sold since the sale began.

  12. Linda Says:

Only two more books sold in the last 24 hours, so interest in this sale has definitely waned — at least among readers I can reach. And reaching readers is always the challenge. 😉

If you do read and enjoy Memory, please consider writing a short review at Amazon. Thanks!

  13. Charity Bradford Says:

I just posted about the sale on my shared blog Unicorn Bell. Hopefully that will help and I’ll go tweet as well.

Memory was your first book that I read and it’s really stuck with me. In fact you’re on my list of authors that I feel influenced my own writing. I love the mix of fantasy with science. It just makes so much sense. 🙂

  14. Linda Says:

Hi Charity — so glad to hear you enjoyed the book, and I appreciate the help in spreading the word. I’m about to wind up the sale, so this is perfect timing.

Best wishes for your own work!
