Privacy Policy

This site uses cookies to collect data.

Comments
When you comment on this site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If your comment is approved, it will be displayed to website visitors.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics and Affiliate Links

Who we share your data with
This site uses Google Analytics to collect and process data. Please visit “How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps” to learn more about how this works.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Third party applications are used to capture statistics on website visitors and to evaluate their input. For example, JetPack is a WordPress plugin that collects browser data and behavior. This includes but is not limited to referrers, search engine terms, page visits, and clicks. Akismet is a WordPress plugin that analyzes comments to autonomously determine if the comment is spam. WordPress itself tracks data such as subscriptions and comments.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue and because your comment is part of discussions taking place on this website. You may request your comment be deleted. Contact linda at mythicisland dot com.

What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Newsletter
When you signup for the newsletter, the name and email address you enter will become part of a mailing list that is partly administered by a third party. Additional data will also be collected, including the website at which you signed up, your IP address and the time and date at which you signed up. If you choose to finish the signup process by confirming your email address, your IP and time and date of confirmation are also collected. Once you begin receiving emails, your activity is tracked including whether or not you open the email, and what links, if any, you choose to click. If you have subscribed to the newsletter, you can unsubscribe from it at any time.
