Reports of a Story Sighting
July 25th, 2012I’ve heard reports that my story “Nahiku West” is now out and in the hands of subscribers to Analog Science Fiction & Fact. It’s the October issue, and I think it’s not generally available just yet — not surprising, given that it’s still July.
I’ll post more here as I learn more, but if you’ve seen the issue, please let me know.

Analog mag usually publishes about 2months ahead of time. So, an October issue in July is “norm”.
I was one of the two that first tweeted you about Nahiku, (and that being the name of a rather famous little village on the Hana Hwy on Maui.

Hi Bill — you’re right of course, and I should have remembered about the long lead times. I think if it had come in August I wouldn’t have been so startled. But July? Wow.
Anyway, thank you for letting me know the story was out!! That made my day.
Nahiku is indeed a little town here on Maui. It’s also the name of constellation we know in English as the Big Dipper, translating as “The Seven.” That appealed to me, so I used the name. 🙂

You sparked a memory I had forgotten. I did know about the Big Dipper name, long ago. Thanks again. I continue to be impressed by your writing.
Mahalo!!!
